We shouldn't trade safety for convenience. Especially not with something that is taking over 3000 lives every day - *preventable* deaths. We don't care about the common good, we just don't want the convenience of our lives interrupted by lowering the maximum speed limit to 30mph.

Seriously, cars and motorcycles go too fast. There's an epidemic of people dying in road accidents. You're imparting a small but significant risk to other people's lives by going so fast. Wearing seatbelts protects you, but not the more vulnerable. Slow down!

Do you fire hospital staff if hospitals are truly overwhelmed?

Agree this is an extremely underrated issue well worth higher prioritization. It seems to me that the solution may be more effectively achieved primarily through innovation versus regulation, though the latter will be needed to allow/accelerate the former.

Car accidents have accounted for 75% as many deaths as COVID this year. Unlike COVID, it does not discriminate against the old and pre-disposed. This has been happening for years but we accept it as unavoidable. Self-driving cars are the solution. We should show the same urgency.
