does it tho? i would imagine most car discourse for car design revolves around much more recent developments, and would relate to henry ford as an important but as primitive/less advanced, where the designer now has more knowledge

If you have a field like modern philosophy that doesn't have empirical research methods, replicable findings, cumulative progress, or mathematical proofs, then maybe all you have left is a nostalgic veneration of history?

i think most synthesis of those early frameworks brought forward to today would invalidate much of what keeps the lights on for the institutional directors

The first is primarily interested in things, the second is primarily interested in people.

Liberal arts attracts a lot of people interested in people. So academic philosophy has a strong bent towards the historical approach
