Whenever someone asks my pronouns, I say "whatever you feel describes me best." For me, my gender belongs to the perception of those around me. So far they mostly seem to be calling me a woman so I'm going with that.

How annoyed would you be if they started calling you by male pronounce in an attempt to antagonize or demonstrate contempt?

would be annoyed at the contempt, but I don't mind when people call me he/him in situations like online where it's clearly not from contempt

I relate to this. I don’t understand what people are referring to when they ask what my gender identity is. I respecting others’ gender identity though. But I can’t even fathom what they are referring to if it’s not my phenotype. Maybe I don’t have one?

I've considered doing that as I feel like it does come down to a description of perception and demanding something of someone else feels like forcing them to lie.
But I worry about someone outright calling me something outlandish.

the simple act of comminicating between two people is a challenge enough already. why muddy up the works?

Makes sense. I think it's healthy not to care about how you're being referred to in the 3rd person. The fact that ppl are obsessed with this is a function of the sense of always being seen, leading to an obsession with trying to dictate social perceptions.
