Unclear? I'm not sure if it's "my body thinks the pain is going to be way worse than it is" or if "feeling it go in lets me know there's a needle in me which is bad". Probably combo of both. For whatever reason removing the pain of it makes me less phobic.

Relaxing and trying not to pay attention seems far harder than performing a few preliminary mechanical steps

idk brah. this phobia is genetic, activates vasovagal response big time, I've passed out full unconscious hitting the floor walking out the door after getting a shot before. iirc this version of the phobia is the only one known to have killed ppl from the fear response alone

this phobia also has penetrated through high doses of anti anxiety meds, barely made a dent in the experience. I had to take so many I lost memory for it to have an impact on the fear

oh fuck dude ("dying from fear response" is an infohazard)
ok yeah my version is worse than anyone i've spoken to about it previously but the closest i've come to passing out has been fireworks/darkening vision 😬 this seems like several notches above
