Was the purpose of the poll to test folks’ understanding of their own relative income or values in a moral dilemma or even misunderstandings of wealth vs income because the way it was muddled made it ineffectual at any of the three and only effective for a (nonsequitur) “gotcha!”

both; if it's this easy to muddle people's understanding of what 'wealthy' is then I don't trust their ability to parse it when it comes to media headlines.

Last time I checked, the average income of adults is about $4500 a year. And that's adjusted for cost of living variations (so that's a lot less in low income regions of the world, where stuff like housing costs a whole lot less).
