The belief framework could simply be the way various societies/cultures label these borderline states?
I think this is likely true! it seems real plausible to me that someone had a psychotic episode or something, described it, ppl were like hm sounds like a Real Thing, which was a concrete enough belief to actively generate that experience in others
this is partially why I'm so anti people engaging in "real beliefs" like this; it became real for me as a teen and it was Not Good, fuck those ppl for telling me demons were real

ya part of why I hate the literal magic thing is that it takes the agency away from you. I am happy to experience demons now that I know I am the source of all creation.

I feel like I've gained mastery by realizing that just cause I experience an intense and strong thing doesn't mean I need to insert it into a predictive model. this was very hard for me to understand at the time.
