I can talk about my crushes direct experience! He would see them clustered in groups, often on top of buildings, usually 2-7 at a time. He once saw two on top of my house. He said they mostly stayed away from ppl, but that they would enter his own bedroom at night

they were repelled some but not entirely by Christian stuff like churches, he never reported seeing someone be possessed by a demon. they usually weren't inside the houses of Christians. they'd hang out outside sorta like birds.

we'd walk down the street and he'd casually point them out. Iirc they were repulsed by true prayer, and some locations had swarms of them. it seemed to be more a location based thing than a person based thing. like they had places that were uncomfortable/comfortable to go

does it matter for your thread what I think? he coulda come on this thread and reported his experiences himself and definitely not thinking they're delusional.
fwiw at the time I experienced feelings that matched up with what he reported seeing

hm well from my perspective, when i was in or near an area where he saw demons, I felt am overwhelming sense of darkness and heaviness. I felt like the walls had spikes aimed at me, like i wasnt supposed to be there, like everything was breathing evil

it was typically because he pointed out the demons and I believed him, but I occasionally felt it on my own in places I assumed must have high demon concentration (like a store with lots of occultic imagery). I would be surprised if any other environmental factors were responsib/

I haven't felt anything like this since since stopping believing in demons, except maybe a few times on high doses of psychedelics while listening to dark music.
I make sense of this via beliefs are extraordinarily powerful, they can have insanely huge impacts on your experience. I believed myself into experiencing the presence of Jesus when I was 16 at one point, it was really profound. I saw people get miracle healed.

I don't literally believe in demons but I believe that believing in them can make them feel extremely real, convincingly so, where it feels like irrefutable evidence for them. I can see how psychedelics start this cycle for some ppl

ya maybe? if we take that overwhelming sensation of evil and call that "demonic" it seems like a fine descriptor for it
