The problem is you’re limiting your understanding of the topic based on who is in your mentions and comes to you*. It’s you* who doesn’t have the curiosity to go outside your own bubble to further explore the topic. So we don’t expect you to have an intelligible view on astrology

yea if you told me the earth is flat I wouldn't really be interested in learning your complicated theories why, because the foundation of it is silly. I'm not interested in learning more about a claim that is completely uninterested in science

you keep bringing up the flat earth theory as a comparison to astrology, but there's direct and conclusive proof against the existence of a flat earth. i'm not understanding what conclusive truth backed by scientific study we're denying by practicing astrology

if you suggest flat earth, I know it's silly because you're proposing something that violates everything I know about science. Astrology claims that the position of planets etc. can predict meaningful events on earth... this also violates everything I know about science

I've found discussing proof with astrologers on Twitter to be very frustrating; they keep moving the thing that's testable into more obscure grounds, don't really understand statistics or significance. If I link a study they link their own studies.

you can find a study for anything you want. I could take the time to read through every single study ppl are linking but I'm not sure I wanna commit the time. similarly, if you challenge flat earthers they also have very scientific sounding documents they expect you to pour thru

I don't mean that studies aren't reliable, only that it's time consuming and I haven't gotten the impression the astrologers would even understand how to evaluate studies for rigor at all. one of the top astrologers I talked to didn't understand what statistical significance was

and all of this feels ridic when we're talking about a very ridic base assumption. why do planet gravity just affect events that are meaningful to human comprehension? do they affect personalities of dogs? what about bugs? shouldn't we see at least small effects for sun sign?

why do planets somehow correspond to the stock market but not how my cereal pours? why does it affect stuff like how extroverted you are but not boring stuff like your gut microbiome or your object permanence abilities? can I choose my kids personality by having a c section?

shouldn't we expect to see different astrology systems independently developed across the globe all look eerily similar? should we not be able to affect other things with gravitational fields of smaller objects much closer to us?

should we not expect to see, across massive amounts of data, people marrying each other having at least a tiny correlation with when they were born? do astrologers even know why tiny correlation with high sample sizes is meaningful?
