I’m both horrified and fascinated by the

astrology blowback. Astrology is clearly bullshit, and I’m confused by why that would be controversial. Did a bunch of people adopt the astrology religion when I wasn’t looking? If so… why?

I think the blowback isn't because of "Astrology is bullshit", but "Astrology is bullshit... and I will not tolerate anyone who believes it". This is an attempt to remove slack from others. Very hostile and dangerous

Basically, if you treat harmless bullshit and harmful bullshit equivalently, you increase the likelihood that people believe dangerous bullshit. She is directly causing people to have harmful beliefs.

A related idea is that a long time ago people had arranged marriages. After the potential suitors met each other, the parents would hire a fortune teller. The fortune teller would do a divination and say whether the marriage would be good or not. That's like astrology now
