just cause something is an ancient tradition practiced over hundreds of years by smart people does *not* mean it's right
it's not very hard to think of many worldviews people intensely studied and defended through the ages that turned out to be completely untrue or cruel

I feel like we’d be better served by moving beyond the kind of thinking exemplified by categorizing belief systems on a binary scale of “right” or “wrong.” To expand the boundaries of our conscious awareness, we need to seek a deeper understanding of perspectives beyond our own.

The irony of this is that I've often heard the "Galileo was burned at the stake" or "Semmelweis was ridiculed for suggesting surgeons wash their hands" pseudo-defense from woo proponents when confronted with "science says you're wrong"
