Ppl who are real into astrology/conspiracies/woo beliefs *really* trigger me, but it's not because of the beliefs themselves, it's what it indicates about the person. To me, it implies a profound lack of curiosity in checking to see if their beliefs are true. 1/

I think you'd be surprised to find most astrologers are pretty self reflective and curious about the world. I understand why you would dismiss it, but this might be a good opportunity to practice what you're saying by investigating to see if your own preconceptions are correct.

Happy to investigate if they're correct, we could investigate if both of ours are correct by running a test that would update our beliefs! Im down to design a test with you that you find fair

I think I'd be open to that. I did something like that earlier this year, recording a discussion about astrology with two people who were skeptical, but realized at the end that there was one additional step we should've taken. Do you know your birth time?

also wanna register that depending on the test designed im prepared to pledge to a public "I didn't expect this result and this result updates me in favor of astrology being true" (and itd be nice if you were down to do this too, assuming you felt comfortable with test design)

That's fine if you keep it private, I just wanted to make sure you have it, since if you didn't it would make it harder for you to evaluate. I'm open to that in principle, but you are going to have to spend some time studying what astrology is first, so you know what to test.
