Ppl who are real into astrology/conspiracies/woo beliefs *really* trigger me, but it's not because of the beliefs themselves, it's what it indicates about the person. To me, it implies a profound lack of curiosity in checking to see if their beliefs are true. 1/

Happy to be more precise here If you believe astrology is actually predictive of personality, then you probably will score lower on IQ tests. This isn't an absolute predictor, but an average one. Similarly to how I predict heavier ppl are more likely to be tall.

uh no, its like the one most rigorous, predictive measure in all of psychology. if youre gonna level criticisms at IQ then you gotta level it at basically every other measure

I feel like this is less precise. Are we starting from the premise that IQ tests are objective measures of intelligence? Or just believing in astrology correlates to performing less well on certain kinds of tests? Are people who perform less well on IQ tests incurious by nature?

I think the better way to say it is, who would you bet on being able to complete a random task if you know one believes in astrology and one doesn't. Non astrology is an easy bet

This is because in our current culture, education indoctrinates people to be philosophical materialists. So people who have developed their mind more hold these beliefs. It’s severely limited and will change as we continue to grow.
