Ppl who are real into astrology/conspiracies/woo beliefs *really* trigger me, but it's not because of the beliefs themselves, it's what it indicates about the person. To me, it implies a profound lack of curiosity in checking to see if their beliefs are true. 1/

not so interested in the object level here but "any honest attempt at truth-finding can only lead to my position, so anyone who disagrees with me must be uninterested in truth-finding" is just... catastrophically bad epistemology

im not 100% confident that astrology is false, probably 99% is there anything you're 99% sure is false and that ppl who disagree with are uninterested in truth finding, like can you generate any hypothetical there

well, I think most people are "uninterested in truth-finding" by default (at least in the rationalist sense) I have not generally observed people's interest in truth-finding to correlate with their belief in things I also agree with
