Ppl who are real into astrology/conspiracies/woo beliefs *really* trigger me, but it's not because of the beliefs themselves, it's what it indicates about the person. To me, it implies a profound lack of curiosity in checking to see if their beliefs are true. 1/

Woo is triggering cause it's low-hanging fruit; we don't live in a culture that's astrology-dominated (like religious ppl in religious cultures are), it's very easy to think about from first principles. It's hard for even very smart people immersed in religion to leave it.

In Christianity at least, you are taught that doubts are natural and believing despite your doubts is virtuous. This makes it even harder to leave.

Exactly what I think of people eating non-veg who are not from India. It is very hard to even know of other recipes that do not involve meat.

It's hard to leave religion because humans are creatures of community. Also people are indoctrinated at a young age, and after your brain has made connections, it's very hard to break them. It's essentially brain washing. Religious folk *are* excellent at it!

Are religious beliefs scientifically testable? Even you have beliefs about things (morality, etc.) that aren't testable. Doesn't mean you are incurious.
