i tweetd about how ppl who've launched themselves up a tier in wealth tend to have a bunch of better qualities (mentioning other factors are at play too!) and i dont think ive had my mentions so full of people acting like i said something totally different before

Its because it is a dumb point! No matter how much you clarify it. The simple fact is, for the VAST majority of people who are rich, the primary factor is LUCK. I know that sucks, no one wants to believe that, but its true! Even the supremely talented people needed luck as well

preparation is maybe a part of luck. But no amount of preparation is the same as being born in an upper-middle class family that can, for example, pay for guitar lessons and SAT tutors, vs. barely having food for school lunch and having to work to support your family as a teen.

idk I launched myself up a tier of wealth and I remember my family putting some lights on a potted plant cause we couldn't afford a Christmas tree, when I was growing up I woulda done even better if we were upper middle class but I still did well

Well good for you- and i mean that genuinely! No snark. But just because something happened to YOU doesnt make it the norm. The vast majority of ppl in poverty find themselves unable to escape. Maybe you had some kind of help youre not even aware of, like maybe a boss (1/2)
