only did it because my buddy who has helped start several very successful tech companies was hounding me to do it
should have listened to him immediately at poured all available resources into it

I read the #bitcoin white paper in 2011. I was skeptical but intrigued and wanted to get some.
Back then that involved buying a gold ingot from a goblin and sending it via carrier pigeon to a weird French dude in Japan and that all felt a bit much, so I never got around to it.

Started mining bitcoin and litecoin in late 2013, then day traded what i mined on an altcoin exchange called cryptsy. I was dumb though and kep all my coins on the exchange...then the exchange owner stole everything on the exchange and ran in 2016. I lost about a dozen bitcoin.

The fact you are talking about "owning" things that are nothing more than strings of data indicates that this is a bubble. At some point in the not-to-distant future the fad will end and the prices will crash,
