Hey, I did a survey on what people mean by the word "racism", which you might find interesting. A strong majority of people use it to mean racial discrimination, which is why you might be getting so much backlash.

While that’s appreciated, I don’t think many have actually read about the topic or even listened to experts. There’s a lot of backlash telling me what I meant, without actually understanding the topic (or context) at hand.

Sure, I'm sure most haven't studied it. But in general, definitions of words tend to be "how people use it" - there's no "one true definition". And if most people use the word racism in one way, then that's a correct definition! It's how language works.

A significant number of people call me a “murderer.” Am I one? No, I am not. I understand how language works but definitions are not subject to majority vote. Words may be understood a certain way (eg “ironic”) and that may mean it’s misused, not that the definition changes.
