Maybe one of the reasons I feel less threatened by the right than the left is that it feels like it's much easier to violate the bad laws implemented by the right than it is the bad laws implemented by the left

My friends were doin drugs like weed and psychedelics even when they were illegal. You can at least manage to do abortions even when illegal, you can still have romantic relationships with the same gender (tho you can't get married), you can do sex work under the radar. BUT

You can get put in jail for not paying taxes, which is 'sorta' like dying, it destroys your life.
But yeah you can die from an illegal abortion, it's definitely not great
Generally you can't go to jail for non-payment of taxes. You have to commit "tax-evasion", which generally consists of some sort of fraud, rather then just not paying.

Cops aren't usually kicking in your door and terrorizing you for not paying taxes. They do this regularly for suspected drug possession. This feels much more threatening to me than receiving a letter from the IRS.
