Here's my attempt at dissecting the components of frame control - when someone else "takes over your reality" in slow, nearly invisible ways

There are several fields of therapy that use some of these techniques… cbt comes to mind. Except it is often self inflicted

I think a *lot* of systemic things implement frame control that we take for granted or process as beneficial and thats a huge additional blog post im circling around writing

Interesting article! Not something someone could have written without a whole lot of awful experiences.
I appreciate the shortcut

I used a lot of my experience because there were examples I clearly remember, but a lot of the general feeling of the post was heavily impacted by talking with friends who went through similarly bad experiences themselves.

Was leaving out the connection to “gaslighting” an oversight or a choice? It’s a fairly muddled term at this point, but it is nonetheless an excellent keyword for finding stories and other content about essentially this same phenomenon.

Weirdly, I didn't organically think of gaslighting while writing this despite being quite familiar with it. I'm not sure why this is; maybe because gaslighting feels like it refers to a concept I understand as much more salient?

the way people can be induced to back atrocities *against themselves* by conceptual gerrymandering is without question the most diabolical of magick on an industrial scale and i can't help but be awed by the sheer audacity and technical tour de force of it as i retch

Obligatory "not all frame control is equally bad" + "it's still frame control".
Personal barely relevant pet peeve, but... A 13yo boy in love with Bayformers "because explosions" is infinitely better off than someone who "loves" an art film because they've been *told* it's good.
