Why? Presumably the motivating factor isn't money, and by a pretty big margin that makes me wonder what could be off setting the (to me) headache of physical discomfort/effort and psychological burden of knowing your progeny is running around somewhere

More genes are nice, money for more genes are nice, also I am naturally happy/cheerful/optimistic and think more of that in the world is good

That's interesting. I mean I certainly agree, it is. I guess I just assumed the incentive of compensation always gets judged against baseline wealth, in which case the relative gain would be minimal. I.e. other factors more influential - how would you split?
