I usually try not to call people idiots, but people have *somehow* managed to interpret this tweet as though I support pedophilia?? Where the hell is the reading comprehension? And this question (and others like it) is really important, because this *has happened before*. 1/

How would I feel if I moved to a planet where *I was in the bottom 1% IQ *Everything I valued about myself most was a mundane, easy skill for others *Having sex with kids was a default routine under the belief it's healthy for them These types of questions are my most constant

And it's not just that tribe - culture across the world and history has been chock full of behaviors that we today find abhorrent, but at the time were not perceived as harmful. The implications of this... this is like one of the *most* important things to think about. 3/

Both because it has a *lot* of implications for how we process harm today, and because it illuminates ways have justified harm to others. I can't adequately communicate how much I want to point at this constantly. It impacts everything. 4/

So yes I constantly think about stuff like what if I was on an alien planet where pedophilia was seen as healthy, and I'm so confused why everybody else doesn't also constantly think about this, and even more how in the ever loving fuck they think *I'm* bad for thinking about it!

I remember reading this post. I did not think you supported anything but were asking a question. My reply would be, you should believe in your morals regardless if others are “more intelligent” than you. They can still be wrong!

Dont need an alien planet for that, just need the right place+era on this planet ;-) That aside: I live on an alien planet where people drink neurotoxical solvents for fun: you get used to it. You find a way to adjust to the situation somehow, until it no longer is a big deal.

Most people are deeply averse to questioning their core assumptions and unaware that they primarily come from their cultural environment. Blissful ignorance is preferred to uncomfortable truth. 🤷‍♂️

I hate that this could legitimize for some an act we hold as evil If a culture fully embraced this behavior there would likely be guidance, rules, customs, etc and therefore not traumatic. That ain't here: So, kid touchers should die in a fire for the trauma they cause...

How would you feel if you lived on an alien planet where people thought that imagining hypothetical harm is morally equivalent to actually doing the harm
