But generally speaking, if a lot of people are explaining to you, in clearly understandable terms, why what you said was offensive, listening is a great start instead of just looking for those who agree with you.

I don't desire for people to be offended based on what I say, but if the way to solve this is me changing what I'm saying, then I would rather not do that. I will not pretend ashkenazis *aren't* on average smarter just because some people get offended by it.

Like, this is actively and morally important to me. I have spent a long time around people who got offended at things I thought or did, and after getting out I was like wait, actually I should have been allowed to express myself and *they* shouldn't have stopped me.

I support changing to being non-offensive whenever we can; I advise people who don't support trans people to nevertheless use the pronouns because it's not a big change in order to be kind and gracious. But I will not ever change opinions I hold about reality because of offense.

please consider that listening to the convenient and comfortable opinion of a marginalised group usually results in reinforcing white supremacy or other harmful ideologies. if you always discard the opinions of those voicing concerns you automatically reinforce the status quo

we are all our own people and form our own informed opinions. but if the people voicing concerns have lengthy explanations as to why it is offensive and those voicing support are saying "don't listen to them they're piss babies" maybe consider them with differentiating weight

the idea that ashkenazi jews, not even jews, but the majority white group of jews, is superior at math or otherwise smarter than others is philosemitism, eugenics, and race science.
this idea you have is straight up phrenology and is harmful to marginalised peoples

and consider, that we know more about ourselves than you ever will. our offense is just as real as whatever concoction of reality you hold. offense does not come from nowhere, it is not fun. offense comes from reason

I was raised in a homeschooling fundamentalist evangelical culture where I was isolated from the outside world and expected to become a housewife; I have *very strong*, angry-feeling disagreements with the idea that 'offense comes from reason.'

I have seen many many times where people used lengthy explanations and being offended to try to shut down what I was allowed to think or do. I'm not saying you're wrong here, only trying to explain I have a very strong allergic response to this kind of reasoning.

*I myself* used to be actively offended by gay people! I considered homosexuality to be offensive to the structure of marriage. I now think I was wrong and that my sense of offense was misguided.
I'm not saying all offense is; I'm saying that I do not respect 'offense' as default
consider that those were abusers and you are now projecting that same mentality unto jews solely because you are "allergic" to people telling you what to do. you say others are fundamentalist but yourself express a black and white mentality where you are always right

Not onto jews, but onto people who are asking me to stop talking because of offense. It's the *reasoning* that's bad. You can ask me to change my mind for other reasons besides "offense". I know lots of jews who do this excellently!

I'm open to changing my mind if you have a decent study you can point me to (or ideally metaanalysis?) where ashkenazis test at the same IQ as other populations. I don't care what words you call it; it seems to me that if we give ashkenazis an IQ test, they score higher on avg.
