I didn't even think about replies vs likes, maybe because i often have tweets where 2-3 people get into a pedantic, in-depth discussion in the replies and thus my replies are frequently greater than my likes and I consider that number irrelevant

Twitter doesn't show the total number of replies though does it? Just the number of top level ones

The other definition of ratio that I've seen gaining more ground lately is when a reply has more likes than the original tweet.

You’re explicitly inviting engagement and discussion though, replies to your tweets are way more expected and not necessarily indicative of being ratio’d
