We got sick of complaining about how broken higher education is. So we decided to do something about it.

Thank you for confirming that this is unaccredited, no campus, no degrees, run out of one of those houses-turned-offices that lawyers love on Rio Grande.

We're a brainwashed society to think that being accredited means auto good and unaccredited means auto bad. it's like we can't even process the idea that education might happen outside the existing beauracracy
Ah ok, so credentials and accreditation aren't important? You want an uncredentialed surgeon operating on you? An uncrededentialed pharmacist compounding your meds? Electrician? Engineer? Sure, pay to take courses, but understand that no degree is offered and no standards met.

I'd be okay with this given I had reason to believe they were competent. Credentials are one way of doing this, but credentials != competence. I've met many uncredentialed people better at what they do than credentialed people.

As someone doing their postgrad at a accredited yet non-credentialising online university, I agree. I think it's perhaps easier with engineering though.

The problem is without accreditation this are basically "courses", discussion groups (which is okay within its application), but calling it "university" is pretty deceitful.

That's exactly what I said about accrediting pilots, electricians, school bus drivers, the whole lot. Do your own research and choose a brain surgeon who isn't trapped into the existing bureaucracy and this whole training and oversight hoax.

This point would carry more impact if we weren't looking at what people like Weiss were trying to get away with with an uncredentialed university

There needs to be SOME kind of accreditation or they’ll be teaching classes in marshmallow roasting.

No one said it was auto good. Its just you know, this isnt a real college with a real plan or real anything. Their address seems to be someones home and their jargon is nonsense.
Their website is the thing that does them in, not our “brainwashed society.”
The point of accreditation is to ensure a minimum quality of standard. Its by no means perfect but I don't see how you would be able to ensure any standards if you're not using something that can be used by employers and institutions later on in the hiring process.
