This seems pretty cool. It's tempting, when trying to correct an existing bad thing, to overcorrect and suppress information that's perceived as a threat from the existing bad thing. If this university doesn't fall into that trap, I think it'll be super awesome.

I personally sorta think that's cool? I personally don't want an actual degree, I want to learn. And maybe people will consider education at this university a good signal regardless of degree.

This feels just like this shit the Texas government is doing right now. It's scary as shit. As an exvangelical I would think this stuff would scare you as well. I know you view things through a different lense though so maybe I'm missing something?

This seems like an expensive waste of time. There are already online options for learning specific courses outside of degree programs - at least there are in every city I’ve lived in via the universities and community colleges.

I’m finding it absurd how: 1) Obessed people are over degrees than to obtain actual skill 2) The mockery from academic lecturers Not only is there confusion over what matters, but a lack of maturity as cherry on top. I wish them the best in their endeavor.

Their current plan is basically “summer discussions,” where groups discuss topics together that otherwise aren’t safe to honestly discuss in normal universities right now. If they hold themselves to high standards, I think it will be quite valuable. Big risk though!

Of course the existing bad thing they are trying to correct is exactly that, an overcorrection of a previous bad thing. The marxist "I want class warfare" stance my kids left Vassar with has been pretty discouraging. Their profs were trying to counter existing classism and racism
