What are some of the ‘best’ criticisms against sex work, re: how it affects bonding, making sex not-sacred, damaging the psyche, etc.? If any of you have been lurking with critical comments lemme have em
to be specific, I'm not interested in criticisms of sex work in general (like how it's a short career), I want specifically criticisms around damaging relationship to sex or bonding
When friends are interested, I ask them if they're ok being raped. The answer is "JFC no."
Me: "OK then prostitution isn't for you."
I suspect I have a similar detachment to my body as you (don't get me wrong I love it) but sexual assault is just part of the work. It's rare.
Yeah there's ways to reduce risk but you're generally correct. In my survey 41% reported sexual assault.
TBF I suspect sexual assault in a sex work context (where you expect risk) might process as less traumatizing than assault in your personal life where you expect safety.
I expect it to happen in both but IME more traumatic in a recreational context because it becomes clear that this person you trusted to regard your agency doesn't, whereas I don't fully trust clients there, which is why I charge bank. The cost of rape is amortized across clients.
