What are some of the ‘best’ criticisms against sex work, re: how it affects bonding, making sex not-sacred, damaging the psyche, etc.? If any of you have been lurking with critical comments lemme have em

to be specific, I'm not interested in criticisms of sex work in general (like how it's a short career), I want specifically criticisms around damaging relationship to sex or bonding

This isn't meant to be criticism but people who've had fewer sexual partners tend to have happier marriages

I’m against prohibiting it, but one thing I can think of is that the age of majority in most states is lower than the age at which a woman’s prefrontal cortex finishes developing.
An 18-year-old girl might regret her sex work. I’m less concerned about 29-year-old Aella

My main criticism is that it can be akin to heroin or donuts for children, a superstimulus that ultimately harms the consumer by substituting something more valuable but harder to get (relaxed body pleasure, good food, a real romantic relationship) and addicting them.

It seems to me that good sex workers are very skilled at simulating intimacy / "the gf experience" and their clients are men who are unskilled at both attaining real intimate relationships and separating simulated intimacy from the real thing. And they're less likely to learn.

The problem is not so much the sex act itself but the world sex workers (and clients) inhabit. Drugs, alcohol, depression, and mental illness abound. It’s incredibly taxing and people lose themselves constantly. Some don’t, of course, but that doesn’t make them blameless overall.

It's interesting to see that the comment allude to women SW's and not men that are SW's.
