Lots of medicine is unnecessary theater, you could probably do a lot of the more common diagnostic/treatment stuff with not a ton of training. Most of the time doctors are not magicians, and a lot of their seemingly wise precautions are really from training in a paranoid system

(Ofc I don't mean like... go smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, there are in fact some things where the risk more clearly outweighs the reward, actually go look at the risk yourself and decide if it's worth it for you)

It’s simple: I see a lot of patients, a slight shift in my risk preference will easily double or triple my complication rate, I play not to lose. You’re a sample size of one, most things you do carry no to little risk increase, you can afford to play to win.
