I think you should go at least one generation higher on this, my parents were born very poor and have transmitted the frugal attitude to me.

I did not grow up poor, but I am very penny wise pound foolish. I'll sit in the supermarket staring at two jars of pickles trying to figure out why one is $0.10 cheaper, but then I'll go out to eat at a restaurant and pay $2.00 extra for a slice of cheese on my burger.

I'm not naturally inclined towards being frugal, but I've been learning how to be.

I'm moderately well off but tend to spend on good food (materials), occasionally travel, and camera gear. Not consumer items or 'gadgets'.

I voted "frugal" although it kind of depends on the kind of spending. Like, I still have a mobile, not smart, phone but I'm constantly paying for additional travel insurances (for the peace of mind)...
