Ideology is often just a thinly veiled justification along general principles for what are usually very particular (and heavily context-dependent) desires.

The big picture is that if the business can legally do it, they will be extorted to do it by the federal government withholding contracts if they don’t. This is not hypothetical, it is happening to hundreds of businesses right now.
