Have you ever caught glimpses of some primal thing your body knew how to do, that you had no idea was built in there? An example: once I got stalked/chased down a long maze of deserted alleyways in Turkey. When I hit a dead end, he lunged at me. 1/

I'd always thought I'd be chiller in a situation like that, I'd often prepped myself for eye gouging or whatever in fantasies of being attacked, but all of that went out the window. I dropped to the floor and SCREEEAAAMEEDD this primal, bloodcurdling scream, and he ran away. 2/

Once I was caught in a tiny rockslide on a short slope; my body dashed UPslope (where all the motion had begun) on it's own volition. By the time I reached the top all motion there had ceased, but the bottom of the slope was rumbling with leg-crushing boulders. 1/

Something very similar happened to me once in a photography reveal dark room, a friend of mine had the brilliant idea of lifting me up with zero warning and I pretty much destroyed the eardrums of everyone nearby.

I’ve had that same exact scream happen exactly twice. Louder than you can possibly imagine. In one of those two instances, in an urban environment, the police received over 20 separate calls from people in different places/ rooms/ buildings.

The first time I ever got in a real fistfight, I grabbed the dude's head and slammed it into the floor. He chipped a tooth. I had no idea I even knew how to do that

I once ran approximately 0.19 miles in under 30 seconds. Was on the phone with my girlfriend late at night walking home. Realized I was being followed by 2 guys. Hung up the call and asked why they were following me. One of them yelled "GET HIM!" Legs took over.
