Have you ever caught glimpses of some primal thing your body knew how to do, that you had no idea was built in there?
An example: once I got stalked/chased down a long maze of deserted alleyways in Turkey. When I hit a dead end, he lunged at me. 1/

I'd always thought I'd be chiller in a situation like that, I'd often prepped myself for eye gouging or whatever in fantasies of being attacked, but all of that went out the window. I dropped to the floor and SCREEEAAAMEEDD this primal, bloodcurdling scream, and he ran away. 2/

And in hindsight like... what? It was absolutely instinctive, took complete control over me, my conscious mind was no longer present. I've never screamed like that before or since and good chance I won't again for the rest of my life. But I had no idea it was in me! So weird.

I once had a breakdown that came from like stressing myself out emotionally about something but trying to bottle it for almost 2 years, and then it just exploded out of me. It was sudden and it felt uncontrollable. Full deep breath in, full scream cry out, repeat for 10+ minutes.

As a martial artist and dancer I would add: ‚any (presumably efficient) action most (economically) accessible to your mindbody at the moment happening‘.

I don't think instinct is the right word but in high stress situations like emergencies I become super calm and more assertive than my usual shy self.

When something drops that shouldn’t and I manage to catch it…. always makes me feel like a total spectator when it happens.

A wierd flow state where I'm completely dialed in. Only seems to happen when avoiding or trying to avoid automobile accidents and dangerous road situations. Has happened enough for me to take note of it, though certainly not often.

Rode my bike onto this pitch black playground. Saw these things fly by me. I rode out into the light and out of the gate following me were these 3 coyotes. Felt they were stalking me and instead of intrigue my legs went limp. I took off scared my own body would let me down.

1/2 I'm always been aware of my primal nature, its potency, and predispositions.
As a child I grew up playfighting my 7 siblings and playmates and instinctively knew which areas of their body to press or activate, when I got overpowered, which would render them incapacitated.
