I wonder if an effective method of changing pro-life minds would be to put a few thousand fertilized eggs into a thimble and give it to them and be like 'if you throw this away you will kill thousands of people'
the process to get a few thousand fertilized eggs would cost a fortune but I'm not sure someone could really 'believe' they're holding thousands of people in their hands, yknow?
I would certainly believe that. However that does not necessarily make killing them morally equivalent to bombing a city; e.g. if someone found that "Horton hears a Who" was our actual situation, they would not change their behavior, and would not be morally required to do so.
There actually is a thought experiment to this effect: if you could run into a burning building and save either one 6-year old girl, OR a petri dish with a thousand fertilized human eggs… ?
Most pro-lifers admit they’d save the girl, but dispute the conclusion that follows.
