I've been searching for this children's book series and I can't find it. They were activity books, big and flat and thin, and heavily illustrated, similar to 'where's waldo' style, and you often had to find things. They were educational and meant to teach about history I think?

Ooh i was also familiar with those but no, the kind I'm talking about was extremely detailed, like almost exactly where's waldo, and drawn in ink and color

No, those were magazines, right? Vaguely similar art style, the series I'm thinking of had much 'smaller' characters, like often drawn from more zoomed-out perspectives. Highlights is more 'normal sized' characters.

no, ispy wasn't illustrated, and the books I'm thinking of had illustrated 'scenes', like of historical scenarios

I found a pop up castle I thought was from the same book series, but googling the author's names doesn't result in more book series. But I think it's the same exact art? So confusing
