One trick if doctors won't tell you % outcomes is to offer wrong % suggestions.
Me: what's % chance this will work? Can you give me a number?
Dr. we really don't know, we can't predict what will happen...
Me: so it's like 99%? or like 10%?
Dr. well actually no more like 70%

My primary care doc confuses T4 and T3. If she understands the difference between absolute and relative risk, I will eat my shoelaces.

Any number of unknown factors can change the percentages of success. They are basically trying to ease your mind while at the same time covering their ass.

This is also an amazing way to get anyone to give a rough explanation anything
Provide the wrong explanation yourself

Related: if you need help with something on Linux, don't say “how do you do X with Linux?”, say “Linux sucks, it can't do X.”.

Most of the time if I don’t give a percentage, it’s because I don’t know, and we’re told not to give patients guesses bc they tend to take them as fact. So, idk. Take the percentages elicited with this method with a grain of salt.
