"Don't tell me I shouldn't be afraid of [group]. When I was 16 a [group member] assaulted me. I'm afraid of [group] every night when I walk to my car alone. I'm forced to text checkins to friends when I go out cause who knows what [group] might do."
This is more ok to say about:

It's equally not okay to say that about any individual. To judge a person as though the person's characteristics are the same as those of some who look like him is collectivism, and it's unjust.

I never had a racist impulse (ie "cross the street") until I was robbed in my 20s, so I understand how trauma can engender prejudice. But because I'm not a bigoted lunatic, I recognize those impulses as something to be rejected, not something to be validated or weaponized.

There's a spectrum. Generally the broader the better but oddly specific = humor

Neither of these make any sense. Is gender *less* general than race? Even given the modern era, a vast majority of people are assigned to one of two. There are a zillion races. If you were (somehow) assaulted by a Scandinavian woman, are you now afraid of women in Nigeria?

Literally, it's 100% acceptable to put "men" in the blanks and at least somewhat problematic to put any other group defined by any other axis. A bit confused as to how anyone can answer 'race' here.

I feel like unless [group] is “assaulters” anything else is a fallacy. I’m afraid of rapists, no matter what other “group” they fall into.

The awesome thing: if you say the gender, that includes the race *too*, so it’s easy for people to just hide their racism by publicly declaring a larger group as the target

Oooooh, you’ve really nailed it with this one. I’ve often cringed at the acceptable level of man-hating I see at times. I know it comes from an understandable place, but it seems ‘men’ are the final demographic that it seems okay to fear/hate as a group.
