This is a decision I feel like I have to keep making; the caring keeps creeping up on me. How do you make this more permanent?

Positive self-talk. Constantly complimenting and affirming yourself, your thoughts, your feelings, your preferences, your choices. Even and especially when others don't. Your opinion of yourself is what matters most. Be your own biggest hype squad.

Replying to and
This feels a bit like wishful thinking or pretending to me; I typically have negative self-talk for what feel like 'reasons', and hyping myself, on some level, feels like I'm deciding to ignore those reasons because I desperately want to believe something that feels nicer.
Replying to and
It can be a conversation. Inquire into those "reasons" and figure out for yourself whether their foundational assumptions/conclusions align with who you are or want to be. I also like to ask myself, "Is this how I would speak to a beloved friend?"
