imma say it, i think ppl's inability to consider morally charged hypotheticals is a sign that society is bad at thinking.

I'm gonna need you to explain why you think speculating about statuatory rape is "good thinking."

It impacts a lot - it questions our conceptions about rape, and weighs it against our intuitions around the desire of minors, and also pokes a bit at our conceptions of trauma and how it's formed.

Most people would only present such a hypo if they had an ulterior motive like trying to normalize being a pedo.
So most people assume you’re doing it for the same reason they would and get mad.
They think enforcing the norm against pedos is more important than the Q posed.

The public infers or accuses anyone injecting nuance or point-counterpoint intellectualism on ALL topics they have strong common feelings against.
“He must be gay!”
“She must love blacks! (slaves)”
“She must be a witch herself!”
It’s part and parcel of endless social hysterias.

I blame it largely on education systems not teaching the right things. Instead of math/english/social studies/etc we should have life skills/ethics/logic etc. So basically we just need to be more Vulcan with the educational approach and that will help more than anything else imho
