in a future world where you get to genetically edit your child before you have it, should children engineered to look black who are born to white parents, be subject to the same benefits for college admissions as are given to African Americans?

There are a lot of assumptions riding along with this Q.

Everyone would want black kids if that's the case then.

that is clearly true. shaping your child's entire life for a lil boost on college admissions makes sense and everyone would do it. yes.

Affirmative action exists to correct historical injustices that have led to disparate socioeconomic achievement. That clearly isn’t a factor in this scenario, so affirmative action wouldn’t be appropriate.

Like, affirmative action isn’t some arbitrary thing that came into being just because minorities exist. There’s an underlying logic to it, as there has always been.

Yes but only because it is what the ruling class would do. The hoi polloi would most likely resist these kinds of over the top shenanigans unless genetic editing was really really cheap.

Same question but they also edited the genes of their ancestors with time-gene-splicing and everyone in the past is white, and everyone in the future is black
