Reminder I have regularly argued that likely most of the bad outcomes in black communities (higher levels of crime and poverty) are downstream to the old drug wars and the destruction to families caused by the high incarceration rates of black men.

You can find tweets where I argue strongly that black communities have worse rates of things (e.g., adultery); please consider them in context. I also argue sex workers have higher rates of mental illness, and if you took that out of context you'd think I was anti-sex work!

And not by welfare-enabled return to pre-civilized black mating patterns ?

No. If you change a gender ratio, you get weird behaviors; I think if you removed a decent percentage of white men from the mating market, you'd also see very similar behaviors.

Iirc the black community was doing remarkably well in the 50s and 60s, at least besides all the racism; when I looked into this I remember finding they didn't have nearly the same levels of crime as they do today.

Murray, Sowell et al argue overly generous welfare policies were particularly damaging to black familly cohesion. The general unraveling of familly ties that began in the 70's may have been particularly damaging to blacks, whose lower ave assets may have made them more vulnerable

Are you familiar with the book Freakonomics? It has a chapter which suggests that Roe V Wade did more to reduce crime in the 90s than any public order policy. Is this similar?
