Unique things about Austin so far: more mosquitos than I expected, it's easier to drive on larger, less congested roads, everybody got screened porches?! and there's lots of territorial squirrels with some game of thrones level dynamics going on

Just moved back after about 8 years. The number of homeless is incredible. They weren't here at all last time I was here.
Other big changes, too

What general part of town, out of curiosity? South Austin, downtown, near UT, east Austin, west lake, north of 183? All are pretty diff experiences imo! Understand if you don't want to share though

You’ve moved to Austin? Lots here about not wanting California to become Texas including sex work.

Oh yes, one does not simply waltz into Squirreldor. Mosquitos vary by proximity to water and time of year though, up in the north I see basically zero unless I go to bull creek or something. Roads are definitely much improved since the pandemic.

Get a bug zapper or those candles that repel mosquitos. But yeah it's all about water, after a rain expect mosquitos and empty anything outside that may have collected water. If you live near a lake or river, expect more mosquitos
