I did a survey (3300 people) in an attempt to get a clue as to how often sex trafficking really happens in the western world.

Hey Aella, I've been to survivor groups and a lot of people i met in these groups were trafficked. A survivor network would be a must for a survey like this. Also interviewing police or surveying the authorities who handle these cases are also a better source. But great article❤️

I have personally never been trafficked, but i was in a homeless shelter my senior year of high school and attended many networks for survivors. I also had a policeman come to my high school to bring sex trafficking awareness, thanks to a campaign i started in student council.

Anyway, out of the many survivor networks i attended, i only met 2 who survived trafficking. It is really rare to be able to break out of and even rarer to share. So just something to consider. ❤️

Sorry i know i said a lot of people, but its just 2. Which is a lot for the topic at hand.

Sorry dont mean to spam, but one more thing is that i do agree its not an epidemic per se- but it is a concern and it does happen in the United States much more than most people think it does, just not necessarily an epidemic.

Right, the question is comparison - there's meetups for very obscure bad things that happen where you can be like 'hey, you could talk to people from these meetups.' And this is true, but isn't testing the question about obscurity in the first place.
The goal is to test obscurity by seeing how frequently people report knowing someone who "X"; if you'd answered the survey, you would have reported yes to knowing ppl who'd been sex trafficked; but almost nobody else would have.
