Yeah, I feel like getting accurate data would be impossible.

i feel like i watched a documentary on the topic once on british TV and it was actually really interesting

There's a swiss documentary too which even got awarded. They based their documentary on the german website http://kein-taeter-werden.de which states that about 1% of men are pedophile. Source: https://www.rtr.ch/novitads/grischun/chantun/zona-grischa-pedofilia-en-il-grischun …

I always feel studies on pedophiles are notoriously lackluster. The lack of reliable sources beyond reports of pedophiles in jail and the taboo surrounding the topic really makes it hard to understand how this happens

Unmatched count allows you to determine the rates of pedophilia in a totally anonymous way, but it requires ginormous sample sizes.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unmatched_count …

I've also come up with a trick that allows computing correlations using unmatched count. Idk if the method I've come up with is well-known. But also it requires even more ginormous sample sizes, so it might not be practical.

You can do a study where you tell people you're going to do study on their reactions to images/drawings with brain scans and slip in pictures of children along with adults and animals and inanimate objects and filter afterwards. Data can be anonymised.
