many anti-porn people seem to live in a reality that's incredibly different from the one I've inhabited for a decade. They tell me about the way sex workers feel, about what happens to people in sex work. And I'm like, what sex worker community are you in that gave you this view?

Why should your anecdotes be given greater weight than published research? e.g. 61% of street sex workers have PTSD. Of course, "sex work" collapses street prostitution and camgirl which may have differential rates. journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.117

Sure, sex workers have higher rates of mental illness than the general populace. I wish people were more literate about how data works, though. It's 61% compared to what baseline? Did they have a control group? And ofc a heavily stigmatized group is gonna have more issues.

FWIW 11-30% active military have PTSD ptsd.va.gov/understand/com Likely that pre-sex work violence contributes to some current PTSD but subjects also note high rates of occupational violence. Does stigmatisation cause PTSD? Thought it was life-threatening violence
