The brand of theology I grew up in was pretty brutal. Why did God make hell, and people who were gonna go to hell? We believed in predestination, so He *knew* he was making ppl who He was actively sending to hell. Why?

Well, maybe the hell they mention is an analogy towards the state of helplessness we enter as we die not being able to do anything or respond to anything as our consciousness fades.

I think there are two versions of original sin. One says you are helpless to manage the invisible demon inside of you. This leads to co-dependence. The enlightened version says that individuals do tend incrementally towards corruption needing appropriate mindfulness and awareness

Calvinism has a certain internal logic that appeals to theologians, but it is refuted by many clear scriptures. Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:14
-
the context is referring to saved people. 'Little ones' is defined earlier in the chapter as "those who believe in me"
