One of the things that makes me most pessimistic about the future of human civilization is that we have no system for evolving new nations and methods of governance. There's no experimentation, no way to make your own country and actually try new things.

You are limiting your imagination by thinking that nation is still decided by physical/geographical boundaries. Internet is changing things. People interact,relate and form deeper bonds over it. There is definitely some progress, we can call it neo-nations.
