Are people more nonfunctional than I think, but hiding it well? Every time I try to describe my difficulty getting things done, people go "yeah me too" but from the outside their lives look great. I woke up exhausted today and have gotten 0 things done and feel like a poophuman.

"from the outside their lives look great" - you're literally a Twitter celebrity of your own making, an absolute definition of success, and yet you feel this way. So clearly we're all a bit nonfunctional

Haha I mean I'm not trying to reassure you, but I think it's objectively wrong to say that it's not much. The results speak for themselves - you've become a thought leader through what you publish; so the focus on mind state and quality over quantity is probably productive

oftentimes what happens is that the part of your internal experience (tiredness, exhaustion) that you think you're conveying through whatever medium, wont come through and gets replaced by the expectation of the person on the other end (success). this, on top of self editing.

I have a doctorate, a family, a career, and still feel like a poser most days. The hardest thing I do is live in my own head. As in be on time, put my phone down, meet deadlines... I used to think there was something wrong with me. Now I know I’m just aware of my potential.

What you say and do is very interesting, at least to me. You did not get to this point by pure happen stance. I do feel your struggle, however, as I often have similar episodes like what you're describing here. One thing I admire you for is your courage.
