Are people more nonfunctional than I think, but hiding it well? Every time I try to describe my difficulty getting things done, people go "yeah me too" but from the outside their lives look great.
I woke up exhausted today and have gotten 0 things done and feel like a poophuman.

I just went to a party/conference thing and there's a few important connections I need to follow up on but I'm just... too tired and scattered. I feel overwhelmed by the big projects I have to do coming up, I wanna crawl into the bath and hide. this seems clearly abnormal, right?

Is there a term for this? "Tired and overwhelmed syndrome"? "Sorry-I-didn't-respond-to-your-lovely-message-I'm-super-avoidant-itus"? "Disease of I'll never found a successful company because at week 2.5 I'll get tired, avoid your email once and then enter a downward spiral"?

"from the outside their lives look great" - you're literally a Twitter celebrity of your own making, an absolute definition of success, and yet you feel this way. So clearly we're all a bit nonfunctional

idk if its true but it feels like 99% of what i do is visible to you guys - so my tweets and blog posts and podcast interviews, that's like... it. and it's not much

You’re an internet-famous millionaire. You appear that way from the outside too.
I’ve wondered this my whole life as well and the answer is both. Happy-productivity signaling is most people’s top priority. But also most people are just extroverts that feel good all the time.

I saw a thing a while back about how we’re all going through like a collective sustained fight or flight response, and how it can have the effects you’re describing. I don’t personally know a lot about it, but the point is - yes.
