School as it currently exists is one of the worst things about civilization. If I had to choose between stopping global warming or ending all school (with decent alternatives) I would probably end all school.

I was privileged that they wanted to do homeschooling, but we certainly weren't financially privileged! we were at a level of income that most people would consider impossible to homeschool on.
"We weren't rich," says a nondisabled child of literate English speakers, having no idea of the breadth of circumstances out there, because one thing kids learn at school is how your neighbors may have completely different lives than they're used to.

Finances aren't really the issues.
I just think some parents are genuinely awful people and their children would be better off in public school despite its flaws.
