School as it currently exists is one of the worst things about civilization. If I had to choose between stopping global warming or ending all school (with decent alternatives) I would probably end all school.

Can you point me to any articles where I can read about this point of view? Or a podcast to listen to? It's pretty alien to me and I want to understand more!

I should probably write something; but basically, I was homeschooled and find a lot about normal school to be absolutely horrifying and everybody else takes it as normal. no it's not normal to socialize with only pps of your own age and have so little spare time

Honestly, and I'm not trying to be insulting at all but probably 90% of the homeschooled people I've known in my life are very socially awkward

imo homeschoolers are a different culture; socially awkward cause they don't share the background knowledge with you, but great at socializing with each other

there are many successful alternative pedagogies that mix people of different ages, for example I went to a Montessori school growing up

As yall probably know, I was homeschooled from birth to the end of 'high school', and cut off from most secular culture - except for 3 months, when I attended public school at the age of 14, and ran into a lot of public school norms that shocked and confused me (cont).

Been a huge amount of home schooling going on over past 16 months. Most parents have found they don't have the skills or patience of teachers, and certainly don't have the time to dedicate to this while doing job(s). Home schooling is a preserve of the affluent/middle classes

I’m a former teacher who found it patently impossible to homeschool my child. And yes, it is actually developmentally GOOD for them to be around same-aged peers. That’s why the successful homeschool parents ensure their children have lots of time with other children.
